I Can Has New Didgy-Poto
As many of you probably know, I’ve been on the search for a new digital camera (ever since I left my Sony Ericsson w800 on a taxi). Well guess what! I finally scored one!
I ended up going with the Canon Powershot G9
Lets just start with a disclaimer, I’m no photographer. So my impressions on the Canon Powershot G9 come straight from my impressions of the camera. Keeping in mind that when I compare the features of this camera, I’m comparing it to a phone camera :P not some ritzy DSLR or the like thereof.
But I have to say, this camera is freakin’ shit hot!
After taking a [“happy snappy” stroll around the city on the weekend](http://www.flickr.com/photos/corey_azza/sets/72157602298768107/), I can see why the G9 has been scoring all the great reviews.
Aarons list of things he likes most:

Face detect is hot, great for happy snaps

Manual mode can’t get any more manual, you can tweak everything

There’s loads of great useless features to keep you occupied when stuck on a bus and stuff

Timelapse photography is cool, ok!

RAW format - Thank you Canon

Aarons list of things he thinks could have been a little better:

On/Off button is really close to the shutter button (I’ve often turned the camera off instead of taking a photo)

Continuous shooting speed varies a lot… for no reason…

There’s been a lot of talk in the [Flickr Group](http://www.flickr.com/groups/g9/pool/) about slow shutter response, but I can’t say I’ve noticed that at all. But as I said before, I’m not comparing it to high end DSLR’s, so maybe I just haven’t noticed it.
